Steve Sarkisian and his staff are pushing to recruit another top-five class for Texas in the upcoming year. The Longhorns have been deeply involved with a slew of high-profile targets this cycle, and the commitment pace has reflected that momentum, particularly this summer. In June, Texas secured 11 commitments, eight of which were blue-chip prospects, and the momentum continued into July with two more pledges. With 22 total commits in the fold, the class is currently ranked fifth nationally according to the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
The summer made a significant statement with Texas overcoming Texas A&M for the Five-Star Plus+ cornerback John Meredith, the cycle’s No. 2 overall prospect. Meredith headlines what many analysts consider the best defensive back haul in the nation. Easton Royal, a Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver who is the No. 1 WR in the class, has been committed since late November. Despite aggressive attempts by LSU and Florida to flip him, Royal remains with the Longhorns following the official visits season.
Independence Day brought additional fireworks when five-star interior offensive lineman Ismael Camara chose the Longhorns over Oregon and other suitors. At 6-foot-6 and 335 pounds, Camara sits as the No. 4-rated interior offensive lineman in the country. In addition to Camara, two other top-100 recruits are in the mix: four-star defensive lineman Kasi Currie and four-star tight end Brock Williams. There are also ten more blue-chip targets currently focusing their sights on The Forty Acres.
Texas’ class ranks second in the SEC behind only Texas A&M. Here is a snapshot of the 2027 Texas recruiting haul as of July 9, broken down by position and ranking:

Texas continues to be a major player in the 2027 cycle, with the program aiming to capitalize on the current momentum and secure a class that could be ranked among the nation’s elite once all commitments are in. The summer surge has already established a foundation that could translate into continued success on the recruiting trail as the season progresses and more official visits are completed.
