The Capital One All-Star Village at the Pennsylvania Convention Center opens its doors to the public on Saturday morning, inviting fans to enjoy a broad, interactive celebration of baseball in anticipation of the All-Star Game. Spanning the convention center, the attraction promises an immersive experience with hands-on activities, interactive displays, and two full baseball diamonds where visitors can test their skills and compete in friendly challenges.
Robert Field, Senior Manager of Global Events for MLB, described the space as a place where fans can fully explore and immerse themselves in the sport. He noted that the venue covers roughly 500,000 square feet, allowing attendees to eat, play, and shop for merchandise all in one expansive setting. The food lineup spotlights beloved ballpark fare from across the country, including a notable 9th-inning Sombrero created by the home of the Houston Texans. “It’s designed for four people; you get a heaping bowl of chips and dips in the middle. It’s meant to be fun for the entire family,” Jim Wolf of Aramark explained, highlighting the family-friendly appeal and shareable nature of the offerings.
In addition to the physical attractions, the village will host virtual reality experiences and appearances by notable baseball stars. Field confirmed that upcoming appearances include former players Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins, and Ryan Howard, who will participate in a podcast recorded at the village. Beyond the village itself, the weekend will also feature the MLB Draft stage down the hall, where one of the event’s most anticipated moments will unfold. Field described the scene: “The commissioner will come out, he’ll say the pick is in, and life will change for some great athletes.”
Access to the All-Star Village requires a ticket, and the venue opens to the public at 9 a.m. on Saturday, with the event continuing through Tuesday in conjunction with the All-Star Game. For those planning their visit, information on purchasing tickets is readily available online. In planning the weekend’s activities, visitors should note that the Benjamin Franklin Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday to accommodate a 100-year birthday celebration in the area. Fans are encouraged to plan ahead to ensure smooth travel and comfortable viewing around the festivities.
