Although the start of Maryland men’s basketball season is still several months away, the 2026-27 opponents for the Terrapins are likely finalized. The schedule gained five additional home nonconference games on Thursday, expanding the program’s early slate. Maryland is slated to host Bucknell on November 2, marking the Terps’ first meeting with the Bison in two years. While Maryland has won all nine prior encounters, several games have been tightly contested, including a two-point victory in 2017.
Alcorn State will visit College Park for a fourth consecutive season, this year set for November 16. The Terps will also get a rematch with Wagner on November 20 following an 89-63 triumph this past season. Maryland will welcome American on December 2, ending a decade-long hiatus in the in-state rivalry, before closing out the nonconference stretch with Radford on December 29. These additions finalize Maryland’s nonconference schedule, which also includes marquee showdowns against NCAA Tournament participants Virginia and Tennessee.
In other Maryland sports news, the men’s soccer program revealed its captains for the upcoming season. Former Maryland women’s basketball standout Alyssa Thomas has been nominated for the 2026 Best WNBA Player Award, highlighting her continued impact on the sport. In football news, Maryland has emerged as a finalist for the three-star safety James Branch from the class of 2027. This recruitment news adds another layer to the Terrapins’ efforts to bolster their roster for the coming season.
