Celtic FC Women are excited to announce the signing of Addie Handley on a two-year contract. A versatile defender, Handley began her football journey with Boroughmuir Thistle before moving on to Hibernian and then Hearts, where she spent four years from 2021 to 2025. Last year, she joined Firhill and quickly established herself as a regular in the Jags’ back line. During her time with Partick Thistle, Handley contributed to a strong team performance that saw the club finish in the top six, and she was honoured by her teammates when she was named the Players’ Player of the Year.
Handley’s development has continued on the international stage as well. She recently featured for Scotland at the Under-23 level after previously representing the country at Under-16, Under-17, and Under-19 levels, highlighting her growing profile within Scottish football.
Upon signing for Celtic, Handley spoke about her excitement and the journey that led her to the club: “It feels really good to have signed for the club. It’s been a bit of a long time coming, and there were a few approaches throughout the season from them. I’ve known Grant for a really long time, so I’m very pleased to finally be able to say that I play for Celtic.”
Head Coach Grant Scott shared his enthusiasm about the addition: “Addie is an exciting young Scottish defender with a good amount of experience in this league to date. She fits the profile of player we’re aiming to bring here, and we’re excited to build on that as we head into the new season.”
Welcome to Celtic, Addie Handley. We look forward to seeing you make a positive impact with the club this season and beyond.
