Thursday was a day of steady production, with every offense posting at least six runs across the four top levels of the Dodgers’ minor league system. Who needs a cycle when you can swap a triple for another home run? Emil Morales delivered the standout performance in the Dodgers’ system, belting two homers to pace a comfortable win over the Dragons. Even though Morales’ numbers haven’t been as eye-popping as in Single-A, he’s still thriving in High-A. Those two home runs pushed his season total into double digits in fewer than 40 games with the Great Lakes Loons.
Across the scene, the Comets and Chihuahuas both left ten baserunners on the bags, but Oklahoma City managed to turn that into six runs, doubling El Paso’s output thanks in part to several costly errors by the Chihuahuas’ defense. OKC showed steady contact at the plate, recording only five strikeouts—less than half of El Paso’s total. Shortstop Austin Gauthier was the lone Comets hitter to collect multiple RBIs, contributing a sacrifice fly and a single.
In terms of extra-base hits, James Tibbs III and Jack Suwinski each had a double and nothing more. For Tibbs, the double marked his 20th of the season. The Drillers, meanwhile, left their scoring to the late innings in a 12-6 home defeat, trailing as much as 11-1 at one point. Starter Payton Martin was blitzed, surrendering nine runs in under three innings. On a brighter note, Mike Sirota kept his on-base streak alive, singling in the sixth to extend his run to 71 consecutive games. Zyhir Hope is closing in on 20 home runs for the season, his 19th leaving the yard. Kyle Nevin was the only Drillers player to post multiple extra-base hits, contributing a pair of doubles.
The Loons supplied a power display, scoring 12 of their 15 runs in the first four innings and out-homering their opponent five to one. Emil Morales highlighted the performance with a multi-homer game and led the Loons with five RBIs. Even without a homer himself, Jose Meza contributed significantly, tying for the team lead with four hits and scoring three runs. Besides Morales, Eduardo Quintero, Cameron Decker, and Eduardo Guerrero each homered once.
Sterling Patick wasn’t deterred by four runs against him over five innings, earning the win to improve to 2-5 on the season. Despite leaving the bases loaded with no outs in a scoreless ninth, the Tower Buzzers managed to clinch a walk-off victory thanks to a first-base error, with Ching-Hsien Ko’s grounder appearing to seal the out in a way that helped with the late drama. The bottom line is that the Buzzers secured the win in dramatic fashion, rounding out a day of strong performances across the organization.
