Lynx’s Cheryl Reeve, Aces’ Becky Hammon named WNBA All-Star coaches

Cheryl Reeve, the Minnesota Lynx head coach, is enjoying a remarkably busy week. Just two days after her team secured the WNBA regular-season wins record with 380 victories, topping the Connecticut Sun 86-80 in Uncasville, Reeve was announced as a coach for the WNBA All-Star Game. She will share the sidelines with Las Vegas Aces coach Becky Hammon, and the selection honors went to the coaches of the league’s two top teams as of July 10. The Lynx and Aces are currently tied for first place at 16-6.
The 2026 WNBA All-Star Game is scheduled to take place at the United Center in Chicago on Saturday, July 25, and it will anchor All-Star weekend activities, which also include the 3-Point Contest and Skills Challenge on July 24. In celebration of the league’s 30th season, WNBA legends Cynthia Cooper and Teresa Weatherspoon will serve as honorary general managers, drafting their teams from a pool of 22 All-Star players.
Reeve has coached the All-Star Game five times, most recently last season in Indianapolis, where Team Collier, led by Reeve, defeated Team Clark. She is the longest-tenured WNBA coach in Minnesota, bringing 17 seasons and four titles to the Lynx. This marks the third All-Star coaching stint for Hammon, who previously coached the game in 2022 and 2023.
In the current landscape of the league, several players are shining. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark—a 6-foot guard—continues to put up career-best numbers across multiple categories, including points (21.2 per game), field-goal percentage (43.0%), and 3-point percentage (34.4%). She has recorded eight assists per game, second only to Alyssa Thomas of the Phoenix Mercury, and she has maintained double-digit scoring in all but one game this season. Clark’s 4.6 turnovers per game is the lowest mark of her career.
For the Minnesota Lynx, guard Olivia Miles has been instrumental, guiding the team to a league-leading 15-4 record. The New Jersey native is leading all rookies in scoring (18.7 ppg) and assists (5.7 apg), ranking ninth and eighth in the league in those categories, respectively. Miles also set a rookie record on June 5 by hitting eight three-pointers in the Lynx’s 87-84 win over the Golden State Valkyries, surpassing Caitlin Clark’s previous rookie benchmark for three-pointers in a game.
Dallas Wings forward Paige Bueckers, the 2025 WNBA Rookie of the Year, is enjoying a strong sophomore season, averaging 19.9 points, 5.9 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game across 18 starts, while shooting 51% from the floor. The 24-year-old UConn product has been central to the Wings’ resurgence and their 11 victories at the halfway point—surpassing last season’s total of 10. Bueckers became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 1,000 points and 250 assists last month.
Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell has also stood out, contributing to the Fever with consistent performances and adding to the league’s dynamic talent pool. With Reeve at the helm for Minnesota and Hammon guiding the Aces, the All-Star coaching matchup promises to be a noteworthy highlight as the league celebrates its 30th season and approaches a marquee weekend of showcases.
