West Ham United sign former Aston Villa forward Salmon

   ​WSL full-time attacker Salmon has been officially announced by The Hammers this afternoon through an club press release. The 25-year-old forward arrives in East London after a three-year spell with Aston Villa, who compete in the Barclays Women’s Super League. Across her time with Villa, she made 75 appearances in all competitions, contributing in multiple campaigns and showcasing her attacking prowess at a high level. Her experience isn’t limited to Villa, as Salmon has also spent time in the English top flight with Bristol City. In addition to her domestic league experience, she has featured for several notable clubs in her career, including Manchester United, Sheffield United, Racing Louisville, and Houston Dash, broadening her exposure to different leagues and styles of play.
On the international stage, Salmon has earned four England caps, with her most recent appearance for the Lionesses coming in 2023. Her international experience adds another dimension to her profile, highlighting her ability to compete at the highest level of the women’s game and contribute on both club and country.
Following her move to West Ham United, Salmon expressed her excitement about the new chapter ahead. “I’m really excited to join West Ham United and begin this next chapter of my career,” she said. She noted that the conversations she had with Rita Guarino and other members of the club aligned perfectly with her ambitions and aspirations. “After the conversations I had with Rita [Guarino] and others at the Club, it just seemed like the right fit for me. I’m really looking forward to getting started, meeting all of my teammates and the fans, and helping West Ham push on this season,” she added.
Salmon becomes West Ham United’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window, underscoring the club’s intent to strengthen the squad and push for progress in both domestic and European competitions. Her arrival adds depth to the attacking options available to head coach Rita Guarino, who now has more versatility and goal-threat at her disposal as the team prepares for a demanding schedule ahead.
