Details of the deal between Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund for Karim Adeyemi have emerged on Friday evening. It has been confirmed that Dortmund negotiated a substantial sell-on clause as part of the transfer arrangement. Adeyemi, who has dominated headlines across Europe, becomes a Barcelona player after a swift round of talks between the two clubs. Barcelona will bring the 24-year-old to the Spotify Camp Nou for the upcoming season, while Dortmund, as anticipated, agreed to a reduced fee before Adeyemi’s contract at Signal Iduna Park runs out in 12 months. The transfer fee stands at €31 million, consisting of €22 million upfront and €9 million in add-ons.
Dortmund also sought to protect their long-term interests within the contract, and transfer journalist Patrick Berger of Sky provided details: Dortmund have secured a hefty 35% sell-on clause. If Barcelona later sells Adeyemi, Dortmund will be entitled to more than a third of any future transfer fee.
In addition, the terms of Adeyemi’s contract have been disclosed: a five-year deal with a net salary of €6 million per season.
