East Texas is well represented across the college football landscape, as former Tatum High School star C.J. Fite spoke for Arizona State University this week at Big 12 Media Days.Fite chose to come back for his senior year with the Sun Devils over pursuing the NFL Draft and is looked at nationwide as one of the best returning defensive linemen in the country.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAt Media Days, Fite explained that his faith in God led him to stay at ASU.”Yeah, it was just God. I didn’t know what I was going to do. I was stuck trying to figure out what I was going to do in my life,” Fite said. “I was going to leave or come back, and God just spoke to me and told me what I needed to do in my life.”He said that as many people were talking to him and giving input, it was like the enemy was trying to confuse him.”Once I isolated myself and spent time with God, talked to God and talked to my wise counselors, I realized what the best decision was for me,” Fite said. “It was clear to come back, so I need to live my life like a hard worker because I’m back. I’m not hiding from what some people might try to hide from, but I tell everybody that every day I’m here is reassurance that I made the right decision for my life. So it’s a blessing that I’m here, and I’m so glad that I’m here.”
