NBA News: Latest Update on Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo Altercation in Las Vegas

By admin — In News — July 11, 2026

Former Miami Heat teammates Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro were involved in a confrontation on Friday morning on a practice court inside a Las Vegas hotel, with new details emerging about what happened and lingering tensions still palpable. ESPN’s Shams Charania was the first to report on Friday night that Adebayo and Herro exchanged physical blows on the court. According to the report, Adebayo confronted Herro over comments the young guard had made on social media, and the dispute escalated into a punch thrown in front of onlookers.
Herro, who now plays for the Milwaukee Bucks, was seated courtside at the Thomas & Mack Center ahead of Friday’s summer league game between Miami and Milwaukee. He greeted several former Heat teammates and new Bucks players before the altercation began. The incident appears rooted in events from a few weeks earlier, when leaked screenshots of direct messages from Herro criticized his former teammate. Among the messages, Herro questioned why an “elite defender” would command a $60 million annual salary, insinuating that other Heat stars from the past did not receive similarly large extensions.
Heat reporter Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald noted on X that there had been some level of resentment among several former Heat players that the organization seemed to revolve around Adebayo. Adebayo had signed a lucrative three-year, $166 million extension in the summer of 2024, and his name had not surfaced in NBA trade rumors, a circumstance that reportedly frustrated some former teammates. While Jackson did not identify the individuals, there was speculation that Herro and former Heat star Jimmy Butler were unhappy with the direction of the franchise. Butler, then in his mid-30s, sought a long-term extension, while Herro’s on-court résumé at that point did not match Adebayo’s level of achievement.
The Athletic further detailed the incident in a follow-up report by Sam Amick, Joe Vardon, Jon Krawczynski, and Eric Nehm. They reported that the altercation occurred at the Resorts World Casino in front of an AAU team run by the Bucks guard. The sequence described by the publication stated that Adebayo walked onto the courts and Herro directed a remark at him. Adebayo then approached and punched Herro, inciting Herro’s AAU coach to intervene while Herro shouted at his former teammate as security escorted them out. Both players reportedly departed the scene on their own accord.
According to accounts from those present, law enforcement officers were not summoned to the scene, and bystanders and security personnel helped separate the two. In remarks captured during Amazon Prime Video’s courtside coverage, NBA insider Chris Haynes relayed that the Heat had acknowledged awareness of the incident but provided no official comment. The episode underscored ongoing friction surrounding the two players and the broader dynamic within the franchise as questions linger about past grievances and the evolving relationships among former Heat stars.
