Previewing FSU offensive line target DaJohn Yarborough’s commitment

The Florida State Seminoles currently sit with 13 commitments in their 2027 recruiting class, and they’re hoping to add a few more in July as several top targets are set to announce their choices. Leading the way is four-star interior offensive lineman DaJohn Yarborough, who is slated to reveal his decision on Saturday. Yarborough hails from Chandler, Arizona, and he is weighing the Seminoles against Washington, Cal, and Mississippi State. The 6-foot-5, 240-pound blocker visited all four schools officially in May and June, and no clear frontrunner has emerged at this stage.
This recruitment is pivotal for FSU. They currently have no offensive lineman committed, and Yarborough was the only interior OL they hosted on an official visit this summer. While the staff will certainly broaden their board, Yarborough remains the second-highest-ranked uncommitted interior offensive line prospect on their radar and represents their best chance at landing a blue-chip lineman in this cycle.
Here’s what you need to know about Yarborough’s recruitment ahead of his commitment, including a prediction on where he might land. He is scheduled to announce his decision on Saturday, July 11, at 6 p.m. ET, and the commitment will be streamed live on the CBS Sports College Football YouTube channel.
FSU Seminoles, Washington Huskies, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Cal Golden Bears—these are the four programs in the final mix. The Seminoles were the first to extend Yarborough a scholarship offer, doing so on June 16, 2025, making them the earliest among his contenders to offer. He first visited Tallahassee on March 13, and he returned for an official visit on June 12. From the outset, he has been near the top of Florida State’s offensive line priorities, with Herb Hand leading the evaluation and placing Yarborough high on the board.
On the recruiting services, Yarborough’s ratings place him as a solid four-star prospect in the eyes of most outlets: 247Sports lists him as a three-star nationally while ESPN and Rivals place him at three stars, and 247Sports Composite rates him as a high-three, edging toward four stars. The numbers reflect a player who has drawn attention from a national audience, but also one whose final destination remains in flux as he considers his best fit both on and off the field.
Despite Florida State’s early and continued focus on Yarborough, momentum appears to be shifting toward the other contenders as the decision nears. Washington and Cal have built tangible traction, and at this moment, it seems the Golden Bears may be the best bet to land him. My own projection leans toward California, despite FSU’s long-standing prioritization and the comfort Yarborough has shown within the Seminoles’ program.
As the timeline unfolds, FSU will keep monitoring other prospects as they adjust their boards and pursue additional targets. For now, the focus remains squarely on Yarborough’s upcoming commitment, with the announcement scheduled for Saturday, July 11, at 6 p.m. ET. The choice will also be broadcast live on the CBS Sports College Football YouTube channel, giving fans a direct glimpse into Yarborough’s final decision.
