Raiders’ Maxx Crosby Gets Big 49ers Take Before Training Camp

By admin — In News — July 11, 2026

The future of Maxx Crosby remains a hot topic as training camp for the Las Vegas Raiders approaches. After a trade to the Baltimore Ravens fell through, Crosby rumors cooled somewhat from the offseason’s early intensity. In the interim, free agency and the 2026 NFL Draft yielded little in the way of concrete chatter beyond light speculation. Still, when the Los Angeles Rams acquired Myles Garrett, Crosby’s situation with the Raiders was thrust back into the spotlight.
As the 2026 NFL season draws nearer, Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon issued eight bold training camp predictions, and one centers on Crosby landing with the San Francisco 49ers. In a July 10 article, Gagnon suggested that the 49ers have been evaluating their edge-rusher situation carefully while Nick Bosa and Mykel Williams recover from torn ACLs. Bosa could return for Week 1, though his effectiveness is uncertain, and Williams remains a major unknown. With those questions, Gagnon proposed that a desperate, win-now veteran team might make a bold summer splash for Crosby.
Even while dealing with his knee injury, Crosby logged 935 defensive snaps last season for the Raiders, earning a 79.7 overall PFF defensive grade. He generated 53 total pressures, 10 sacks, 31 hurries, 12 QB hits, and a forced fumble, and he contributed 46 solo tackles against the run. Gagnon expresses confidence that Crosby will regain his dominant form after the left knee meniscus injury, arguing that it would be unwise for a rebuilding Raiders squad to hold onto a player entering his prime years at age 29 on a large contract.
Gagnon also notes that the Raiders previously signaled an openness to trading Crosby to the Ravens before the deal unraveled over medical concerns. The analyst contends that while Crosby is still a superb player, the timing might not be ideal for a club still rebuilding to retain him on a sizeable long-term deal. His perspective suggests that a trade to an NFC team that is ready to contend, needs edge help, and happens to be in Crosby’s familiar region could make sense.
Regardless of whether Crosby is traded before the summer ends, he is expected to be ready for Week 1. During the June 30 edition of The Rush With Maxx Crosby, the Raiders star provided an update on his recovery as he prepares for training camp. Crosby described his progress as remarkably productive and excited for what lies ahead, adding that a substantial portion of his rehabilitation remains and that he feels fantastic about the upcoming phase of his recovery. He conveyed optimism about being able to cut free and return to peak form, underscoring his confidence in a strong start to the season.
