London Club Eyeing Up Move For Sheffield United Talent

West Ham United are reportedly keeping a close watch on Sheffield United midfielder Sydie Peck and may press the Blades’ resolve with a formal approach in the coming days. According to The West Ham Way, the Hammers have established a definite interest in the talented youngster and are weighing up a potential move as they look to reshape their squad ahead of the new Championship season.
Peck’s name has naturally grown in prominence after an outstanding breakthrough campaign at Bramall Lane. The academy graduate established himself as one of Chris Wilder’s most trusted performers, starting 36 games and contributing five goals with four assists from midfield. His energetic work rate, poise in possession, and expanding influence in both defensive and attacking phases helped him stand out as a key figure for Sheffield United. Still early in his senior career, Peck has shown a maturity beyond his years and became integral to the side amid strong competition for places. That upward trajectory has clearly attracted attention from elsewhere.
West Ham are believed to be weighing their midfield options and see Peck as a player capable of becoming an important asset in the present and for the future. However, while there is genuine interest, persuading Sheffield United to part with him is expected to be a highly challenging task. The Blades are reluctant to lose one of their brightest academy products, especially with both clubs preparing for life in the Championship. They would only entertain discussions if an offer reached a level that would be impossible to ignore, as selling a key player to a direct promotion rival is never ideal.
From a financial standpoint, every club has a price, but Sheffield United are likely to value Peck highly given his age, homegrown status, and immense potential. There is a broad belief around Bramall Lane that Peck is still some way from reaching his ceiling. Another full season of Championship football could propel him further developmentally, enhancing his abilities technically and physically and making him a more complete midfielder.
Chris Wilder has consistently shown faith in young players willing to take on responsibility, and Peck repaid that trust throughout the previous season. His capacity to press aggressively, disrupt opposition play, and arrive in dangerous attacking positions added a new dimension to the Blades’ midfield. While his five goals and four assists clearly underscored his attacking talents, it was arguably his consistency that impressed supporters most. Week after week, Peck demonstrated a tenacious competitive edge and exhibited leadership beyond his years.
Thankfully for Sheffield United, the squad currently benefits from a healthy balance of experience and youth in midfield. Jairo Riedewald recently bolstered the group by signing a new deal, helping to secure Wilder’s plans for continuity and development within the squad.
