The Columbus Clippers rallied to outslug the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in a high-scoring Friday night contest, prevailing 10-7. Columbus collected 13 hits and committed no errors, while Lehigh Valley totaled 12 hits with one miscue. Rorik Maltrud started for Columbus and delivered a quality start, moving to 3-0 on the season. He allowed three runs on eight hits with one walk and struck out four. Hunter Greene? Juan Brito’s solo shot to right at the start of the sixth pushed the lead to 8-2, giving Maltrud the cushion needed to maintain the win probability. The Clippers added two more runs in the eighth inning, sealing the victory. In that frame, four consecutive walks to open the inning loaded the bases for Columbus; Ingle scored on a fielder’s choice off Genao’s grounder, finalizing the scoring for the night.
CHE 2 – AKR 5 Box Score
The Akron RubberDucks extended the affiliate’s winning streak with a 5-2 victory over the Chesapeake Baysox. Dylan DeLucia worked 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on six hits while fanning seven. Jay Driver earned his sixth win of the season, recording just one out in the fifth to finish the inning for the Ducks. Zach Jacobs and Jack Carey contributed scoreless outings; Jacobs worked two innings, Carey one, and both struck out two. In the bottom of the second, with one out, Bennett Thompson tripled to right as the RubberDucks trailed by two runs. Wuilfredo Antunez followed with a double to score Thompson, pulling Akron within a run and sparking the rally that would lead to their eventual victory.
