Former Blue Devil and current Chief Basketball Officer Jayson Tatum joined a gathering of Duke alumni at a Brotherhood dinner held in Las Vegas. While there, Tatum paused to reflect on the event, sharing insights about how the program distinguishes itself from others across the country.
“This is incredible,” Tatum remarked. “To have a space at an event like this where you know guys who played with you, who came after you, and those who were before you—we’re all connected by this amazing program, and it’s simply cool to see guys we haven’t run into in a while.” He emphasized that Duke’s basketball brotherhood feels unparalleled, a sentiment that’s hard to dispute.
By the numbers, Duke boasted 25 alumni in the NBA heading into last season, just two fewer than Kentucky. Yet, under head coach Jon Scheyer, Duke has produced more NBA talent than any other program since Scheyer took the helm, including three players selected in the 2026 NBA Draft.
This piece originally appeared on Duke Wire, highlighting Tatum’s remarks about the remarkable Duke meet-up in Las Vegas and its significance for the program’s ongoing tradition and connectivity.
