Ranking 5 Panthers newcomers by potential impact in 2026

By admin — In News — July 11, 2026

The Carolina Panthers are entering a new season fueled by momentum from their first playoff appearance since 2017 and their first division title since 2015. They aren’t resting on those past achievements, though. In the NFL, standing still means slipping, and the Panthers clearly understood that message this offseason. They pursued a number of intriguing acquisitions to strengthen their roster, signaling a real commitment to progression rather than stagnation.
So which of these newcomers will make the biggest impact in 2026? Here is a look at the major additions and how much they could influence the Panthers’ trajectory this season. Lloyd, who earned his first Pro Bowl berth in 2025, signed a three-year, $42 million contract with Carolina in March. He is slated to be the franchise’s new defensive centerpiece, potentially the first truly impactful pillar Carolina has had in the post-Luke Kuechly era. If Lloyd lives up to expectations, he should bolster coverage, help the run defense, and improve the team’s ability to rush the quarterback.
Speaking of pass rush, that was a clear area the Panthers needed to address under coordinator Ejiro Evero. To boost pressure on opposing quarterbacks, Carolina handed Jaelan Phillips a four-year, $120 million deal—the richest free-agent signing for the team this past spring. The expectation is that the former first-round pick, who ranked ninth in quarterback pressures among his peers in 2025, can transform one of the league’s more anemic pass rushes into a more dangerous, multiple-threat unit.
Another notable upgrade came on the offensive line, where Walker joined the Panthers on a surprisingly affordable one-year deal worth $4 million, with the potential to earn another $6 million in incentives. He figures to contend for the starting left tackle spot, stepping in while Ikem Ekwonu recovers from a torn patellar tendon. The job will likely come down to Walker versus the Panthers’ rookie tackle, Monroe Freeling, who impressed as a draft pick but faces the challenge of earning the starting role in a hurry.
While Freeling may begin his rookie season as a backup option, the Panthers’ second-round selection could quickly rise up the depth chart. Hunter brings a different dimension, standing at 6-foot-4 and 321 pounds, known for his run-stuffing prowess. With Tershawn Wharton sidelined by a neck injury, Hunter will have the opportunity to push for a starting role and push Carolina’s defensive line rotation.
In the draft, Carolina added Brazzell, a receiver who produced more than 1,000 receiving yards and nine touchdowns for Tennessee in 2025. His blend of length, speed, and the ability to stretch the field could elevate the receiving corps over time and may eventually put him in position to challenge established players, including 2024 first-rounder Xavier Legette, for a larger role.
