Veteran guard Victor Oladipo announced on social media Saturday that he will be hosting a Pro Day in Las Vegas on Tuesday, signaling his ongoing bid to return to the NBA. Oladipo has not played in the league since the 2022-2023 season, when he spent his final NBA stint with the Miami Heat. During that year, he appeared in 42 games before a season-ending knee injury cut his campaign short. In his post, Oladipo stated that the workout would be open to NBA front office executives, scouts, coaches, league personnel, and officials who are interested in attending. He expressed enthusiasm about the chance to compete, demonstrate his current level of play, and connect with everyone who attends the event.
Oladipo was selected No. 2 overall by the Orlando Magic in the 2013 NBA Draft. He spent his first three seasons with Orlando before being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, along with Ersan Ilyasova and the rights to Domantas Sabonis, in exchange for Serge Ibaka. His time in Oklahoma City lasted just one season before he and Sabonis were dealt to the Indiana Pacers in a blockbuster deal that brought Paul George to the Thunder.
The guard’s 2020-2021 season in particular featured a tumultuous path. He began with the Pacers, but was involved in a January four-team trade that largely reshaped the landscape for James Harden’s move to the Brooklyn Nets. After reportedly turning down a maximum extension from the Houston Rockets, Oladipo was traded in March to the Miami Heat in exchange for Avery Bradley, Kelly Olynyk, and a 2022 pick swap. Over his NBA career, Oladipo has appeared in 504 regular-season games, posting averages of 16.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.
Beyond his NBA tenure, Oladipo continued to pursue competitive basketball through the G League. This past season, he signed with the Wisconsin Herd and appeared in 15 games, averaging 13.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. His return to form has been the subject of widespread interest as he eyes another opportunity to rejoin the NBA at a high level.
Oladipo’s career highlights include being named a two-time NBA All-Star, earning the NBA Most Improved Player honor in 2018, and receiving a spot on the NBA All-Defensive First Team in 2018. His combination of scoring ability, playmaking, and defensive versatility has long made him a notable presence on the court, even during seasons when he faced injuries and roster changes.
As he gears up for the Las Vegas Pro Day, interest in Oladipo’s performance and recovery is high among teams and fans alike. The event is designed to provide a platform for him to display his current skill level, regain timing and rhythm, and potentially spark renewed consideration from NBA clubs seeking a veteran guard with playoff experience and a track record of resilience. Oladipo has built a reputation as a player who maximizes effort and remains committed to his craft, and this Pro Day could serve as a significant step in a possible return to the league he has sustained across a storied decade.
