Hello, and welcome to the 2026 White Sox MLB draft tracker! Below you’ll find every pick the White Sox make, with links to our individual stories on site for the five picks in the first four rounds. Right from the start, the White Sox dispelled any notion of zigging when others zagged, selecting the longtime, near-universally regarded No. 1 prospect in a top-heavy class, Roch Cholowsky.

While last year’s draft was labeled a “shortstop” year, 2026 leaned hard toward hitters, especially outfielders—eight of the first 20 picks and every pick from No. 5 through No. 9 were position players, with only three pitchers among the Top 20 selections and a single arms pick before No. 18 (Jackson Flora, Giants, at No. 4). Through the first nine position-player prospects, all were shortstops up to No. 14. Delving deeper into the round, 12 of the 21 selections were shortstops, underscoring a heavy emphasis on infield talent, though the overall class remains skewed toward hitters.
On Day 2, the White Sox finally began to exude the aura of a genuine No. 1 pick, a vibe that would have fit into any other era of draft history. At No. 106, they did not quite snag the absolute top remaining talent on the board, but they did secure a very high-upside player with potential for rapid development.
Note that all picks with breakout stories on the site are linked below. Picks on Sunday (Rounds 5–20) that fall outside MLB’s Top 250 without a truly distinguishing trait won’t have individual stories published on the site; they will simply appear here in our tracker.

White Sox picks
First Round (No. 1) Roch Cholowsky, SS, UCLA
Cholowsky was the consensus No. 1 pick almost from the moment last year’s draft ended, thanks to an MLB-ready bat and glove. We could plausibly see him in Chicago as soon as September.
Competitive Balance Round A (via Pirates) (No. 34) Landon Thome, 2B/3B, Nazareth Academy (Ill.)
The White Sox telegraphed this selection with yesterday’s trade, as Thome hovered around this slot in predraft rankings and the club did not want to risk him sliding to their second-round choice (No. 41). Thome is likely to transition from his prep position at shortstop to an infield profile that emphasizes hitting and speed over glove work. He’ll quickly join Nazareth teammate Jaden Fauske, taken by the Sox in the second round a year ago, in Low-A Kannapolis.
Second Round (No. 41) Cole Prosek, 2B, Magnolia Heights (Miss.) High School
Prosek was ranked No. 27 in the draft, so the White Sox landed a first-round-caliber talent a dozen picks lower than expected. He and Thome may require an over-slot deal to sign, but the White Sox have ample bonus money to allocate. Prosek brings a bat-first profile with solid defensive ability, and the 18-year-old (turning 19 soon) has plenty of room to grow.
