Major Reason Revealed For Tyler Herro’s Hate Of Bam Adebayo

By admin — In News — July 12, 2026

The recent clash between former Miami Heat teammates Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo has surged to become the headline story of Summer League, even though neither player appeared in the Las Vegas games. The two did meet and exchange barbs after Herro had previously targeted Adebayo. The conflict began when a fan leaked direct messages in which Herro took shots at Adebayo for being the main reason behind the Heat’s struggles over the past several seasons.
Miami insider Barry Jackson explained why Herro and other players have harbored some resentment toward Adebayo: there has been a level of resentment from multiple former Heat players that Bam was chosen as the franchise centerpiece, given a lucrative contract extension, and shielded from trade rumors. Herro is the clearest example, having shown jealousy by taunting his former teammate in front of fans. Jimmy Butler was also mentioned as someone who may feel a similar tension, given that Adebayo has earned more widespread respect within the organization. Pat Riley and other Heat executives regard Bam as a lifelong Heat player, and this perception helped fuel the rift with Herro.
Longtime NBA reporter Marc Stein added more context, noting that other players view Adebayo as “Heat royalty” because of how the franchise treats him. Adebayo was the only player not placed on the trade block during the recent discussions involving Giannis Antetokounmpo and other major names. Stein shared this in a Bleacher Report segment with Jake Fischer: “He is Heat royalty for Micky Arison, Nick Arison, Pat Riley. He is the modern-day Udonis Haslem. They consider him the absolute franchise pillar. I’ve always heard nothing but he’s held in high regard by his teammates… He is the untouchable there. That part is for sure. He is an extension of Pat Riley, Spo, Ownership.” The owners and the most significant decision-makers in Miami basketball view Adebayo as the untouchable figure.
Herro’s presence in trade rumors year after year, coupled with Butler not receiving a strong contract offer, contributed to the growing resentment toward Bam. One somber aspect of this falling-out is that the two had once been close friends. In a recent interview, Adebayo identified Herro as the closest friend he had on the roster, underscoring that they were the longest-tenured Heat players who had essentially grown up together on the same team.
The success of Herro and Adebayo, along with Butler, had already yielded two unlikely NBA Finals appearances before they fell short against superior teams—the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets. The two players are only two years apart in age, further illustrating how their careers and paths were intertwined during their time in Miami.
Regrettably, the relationship deteriorated after Herro posted a graphic that mocked Bam and followed up with more insulting comments directed at a fan. When Adebayo confronted Herro, it likely surprised him, given that the confrontation came from someone who had previously been a close ally. That moment captured the uncomfortable turn from camaraderie to a more fraught dynamic, reflecting a friction that now has broader implications for how the former teammates view each other and their place within the franchise.
