Though Ball’s career has been hampered by injuries, he could still be an appealing option as a bench point guard for a team in need of depth. In seven different games last season, he recorded 6+ assists, highlighting his playmaking ability when healthy. He could potentially be signed to a minimum or non-guaranteed contract, offering a low-risk, high-reward addition for a team seeking step-in leadership and playmaking depth off the bench. Lonzo Ball and the Los Angeles Lakers: At one time, Ball was viewed as a potential superstar after being selected second overall in the 2017 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. However, his tenure with the Lakers lasted only two seasons before a trade sent him to the New Orleans Pelicans. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on June 15, 2019 that the Pelicans agreed to trade Anthony Davis to the Lakers in exchange for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round picks, including the No. 4 pick in the 2019 Draft.
