Bruno Guimaraes’ Father Goes Public Amid Arsenal Links

By admin — In News — July 12, 2026

Amid an already heightened atmosphere around Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes, the summer-long rumor mill linking him with Arsenal has taken another turn with his father stepping into the spotlight. Dick Guimaraes, who has become a familiar presence for Magpies fans since his son joined the club in 2022, posted a provocative message on Instagram just days after Brazil were knocked out of the World Cup and amid persistent transfer chatter connecting Bruno with the Gunners. Translated from Portuguese via Newcastle World, the message read: “It takes courage to enter the arena and do what must be done. From the stands, it’s easy to offer opinions.”
The timing of Dick’s post is notable, coming in the wake of Bruno’s missed penalty in Brazil’s World Cup defeat to Norway, a miss that drew heavy criticism at home because it could have sealed a late winner for the South American side. Brazil ultimately exited the tournament with a 2-1 loss to Norway in early July, a result that intensified the spotlight on Bruno and, by extension, on his future amid ongoing transfer chatter.
Dick’s message arrives as Arsenal’s link to the 28-year-old midfielder continues to resurface, promising to add another chapter to the lengthy saga surrounding Bruno’s possible move to the Premier League champions. The Daily Mail’s Craig Hope reported that representatives acting on Bruno’s behalf had engaged with Arsenal and conveyed a verbal proposal to Newcastle. Newcastle United, however, swiftly rejected the approach, reiterating that their captain is not available for transfer.
Hope also noted that Newcastle intends to open contract talks with Bruno once he returns from international duty, provided he remains open to extending his contract at St James’ Park. The discussions, it was indicated, would aim to secure Bruno’s long-term future with the club, reinforcing the Magpies’ firm stance on his status.
Meanwhile, The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards provided a contrasting update on Friday, saying there had been no offers, no bids, and no direct conversations between the clubs. Instead, negotiations were described as taking place solely through intermediaries, with sources inside Newcastle characterizing Arsenal’s approach as “very odd” given the extent of public speculation surrounding the potential transfer.
As things stand, Newcastle appears to have received no formal bid from Arsenal, and their position on Bruno remains clear: he is not for sale. The club plans to revisit the midfielder’s contract situation once he has returned from international duties, and any decision on his future will depend on both Bruno’s willingness to stay and Newcastle’s readiness to reward him with a new deal. The ongoing rumors, amplified by social media posts from Bruno’s father and sustained by media reports from reputable outlets, ensure that the story will continue to unfold in the weeks ahead, keeping fans and pundits alike engaged as the transfer window progresses.
