Falcons training camp spotlight: WR Vinny Anthony II

By admin — In News — July 12, 2026

The Atlanta Falcons entered the 2025 season with a powerful two-pronged receiving threat, but both Drake London and Darnell Mooney spent significant stretches sidelined by injuries. In a move that underscored a shift in the wideout room, the Falcons released Mooney in the offseason and rewarded London with a four-year contract extension.
Looking at the surrounding cast, the Falcons’ wide receiver group clearly had ample room for improvement, which helps explain the aggressive overhaul during the offseason. Atlanta brought in a quartet of new faces to bolster the depth and upside at receiver: Olamide Zaccheaus and Jahan Dotson were added as veterans of the position, and Zachariah Branch was selected in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft to inject upside and youth into the unit.
The Falcons also added three undrafted free agent wide receivers, each of whom has a plausible path to securing a spot on the 53-man roster after camp concludes. In this Falcons Wire training camp spotlight, we turn our attention to UDFA wideout Vinny Anthony and explore what he might contribute to the team in 2026.
In 2025, Anthony logged 31 receptions for 391 yards and one touchdown. His numbers in 2024 were more impressive, with 39 catches for 672 receiving yards and four touchdowns, a trajectory that likely contributed to him going undrafted. Across his four seasons at Wisconsin, Anthony racked up 80 receptions for 1,162 yards and five touchdowns. The former Badger would bring valuable competition in the slot, along with some much-needed kick return ability (1,075 career kickoff return yards and one TD at Wisconsin). The Falcons gave Anthony a guaranteed signing bonus of $265,000, a factor that could improve his odds of making the initial 53-man roster out of camp.
Some NFL scouts believe Anthony could translate better to the pro game than he did in college. “Anthony is an undersized target with underwhelming college production, but his foot quickness, ball skills and attention to detail in his route running indicate his best football could come in an NFL offense,” wrote Dane Brugler of The Athletic. “He projects best inside, even though most of his college reps came on the outside.”
The Falcons’ camp schedule features a number of dates and destinations tied to practices and preparations, highlighting a crowded slate of events at practice fields and in Indianapolis for joint sessions with the Colts on August 19 and 20. The team will return to Flowery Branch for training camp, with rookies reporting on July 24 and veterans on July 28, as they gear up for the 2026 season.
