Evans’ senior Will Jackson earns MVP honors at 14th Orlando QB Shootout

Evans High senior quarterback Will Jackson, who committed to Maryland at the end of May, was the standout winner Saturday at the 14th Annual Orlando QB Shootout, earning the overall MVP honors for an event that has previously crowned winners such as former FSU quarterback Deondre Francois. Lake Brantley’s Jackson Stecher, last year’s winner, was in attendance on Saturday but did not participate in drills. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Jackson flexed his strong arm and demonstrated a wide array of throwing capabilities, also capturing the accuracy challenge. The top challengers in the event at Central Florida Christian Academy were Daniel Proenza, a recent transfer to Seminole High from Spruce Creek, and Jupiter’s Johnny Moses.
Jackson began his high school career at Lake Minneola and transferred to Evans this spring after spending a season in Georgia at Camden County in Kingsland, where he threw for nearly 2,000 yards and 24 touchdowns. Pictures from the 2026 Orlando QB Shootout highlight the proceedings. “It feels good. This is what you work for, putting in the hours—early mornings, late nights—so this is just a stepping stone for my future,” Jackson said. “I just need to keep working and keep doing what I’m doing, and I’ll eventually get to bigger things.” He added, “It means a lot. I’m from the Orlando area, have lived here almost all my life, so being able to go out there and perform and show my talents is always a good thing. It’s also meaningful to be an example for younger kids.”
Jackson acknowledged the tradition of notable MVPs who have come through the camp, noting, “Those are legends, and it’s a great feeling to follow in their footsteps and now chart my own path.” The Orlando Shootout isn’t limited to quarterbacks; the event includes drills and analysis for every football position.
Another recent college commit, Sincere Wilkerson of Edgewater, participated Saturday and earned the offensive line MVP. Wilkerson committed to Coastal Carolina last week and has emerged as one of Central Florida’s top offensive line prospects. At 6-4 and about 330 pounds, he has trimmed down from roughly 355, carrying the weight more effectively. Coastal Carolina would like him to shed a little more fat. “I feel like I’m getting better every day at Edgewater and with my trainer, and I enjoy camps where I can perform,” Wilkerson said. “I’m carrying about the same weight and trying to lose weight, but I’ve been lifting, so my muscle mass has probably increased.” The charismatic Wilkerson expressed excitement about his Coastal commitment but said he would consider other offers as they come in. “I feel good. It’s still out there, and I’m open to better opportunities.”
