   ​Another day of minor league baseball is in the books. Here are the results and notable performances from the day, with a link to yesterday’s recap for those who want to compare notes. Sugar Land jumped out early, scoring four runs in the first inning on a Loperfido two-run double, a Whitcomb RBI double, and a Salazar RBI single. Wesneski got the start and pitched well, yielding one run over 4.2 innings while striking out seven. The Skeeters taddled on three more in the seventh inning, thanks to a Brooks RBI single and Salazar’s two-run single. Pecko allowed three runs in relief but held firm as Sugar Land held on to win 7-4.

Meanwhile, the Hooks got on the board in the first inning with an RBI single from Schiavone. They added two more runs in the second on a Whitaker RBI double and a Brown RBI single. Dombroski started and allowed three runs over 3.1 innings. In the fifth, Sisneros hit a two-run homer, and the Hooks added another run in the seventh on a Sisneros groundout. Guedez struggled in relief, allowing three runs as Frisco tied the game. Frisco then took the lead in the ninth, but the Hooks rallied in the bottom half with a Sisneros RBI double and a Whitaker walk-off grand slam. Note: Bush has an .845 OPS this season. Encarnacion, CF: 0-for-4 with a run and a walk. Bush, DH: 2-for-4 with two runs and a walk. Schiavone, C: 3-for-3 with two runs, an RBI, and two walks. Whitaker, RF: 2-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and a home run with five RBIs. Brown, 3B: 1-for-4 with a run. Dombroski, LHP: 3.1 IP, six hits, three runs, three earned, two walks, six strikeouts. Santos, RHP: 2.2 IP, one hit, no runs, no earned, no walks, four strikeouts. Guedez, RHP: 1.1 IP, four hits, three runs, three earned, no walks, two strikeouts. Dashwood, LHP: 1.2 IP, two hits, two runs, two earned, one walk, two strikeouts (WIN).
The Asheville club opened scoring in the second inning with a Garcia RBI single. In the third, Powell and Call went back-to-back with home runs to add two more runs. DeVos started and was solid, allowing one run over five innings with six strikeouts. The offense added another run in the eighth on a Moss RBI single. The bullpen closed the door, allowing just one run as Asheville earned a 4-2 victory. Note: Powell is hitting .291 this season. Powell, DH: 1-for-4 with a run, a homer, and an RBI.
