Report – Chelsea Ponder Shock Move for Bologna Winger

By admin — In News — July 12, 2026

Chelsea are reportedly weighing a summer swoop for Bologna forward Jonathan Rowe, as the Premier League giants explore options to bolster their attacking options. Updates from Il Resto del Carlino via Calciomercato indicate that Bologna are willing to listen to offers for the former Olympique Marseille talent, signaling a potential exit door for the 23-year-old if a suitable bid arrives. Bologna only secured Rowe’s signature last summer, shelling out around €17 million to bring him to Italy, and while the player endured a slower start in Serie A, he found his footing in the latter part of the season. Under Vincenzo Italiano, Rowe grew into a fixture in Bologna’s attack, offering pace, direct thrust, and relentless energy that frequently troubled opposing defenses.
Despite a noticeable uptick in form as the campaign progressed, Rowe’s statistical output remained modest. He contributed three goals and three assists across 28 league appearances, numbers that hardly captured his influence on the pitch. His impact went beyond the stat sheet, as his speed, willingness to take on defenders, and tireless work rate made him a persistent nuisance for opponents and a dependable outlet for his teammates. Bologna’s season without European football only heightens the likelihood that the club may need to cash in on some of their assets, and Rowe is viewed as one of the first players who could depart in such circumstances.
Rowe’s value remains strong, with a current market valuation of around €40 million, a figure Bologna would be right to demand given his age and potential. The Stadio Renato Dall’Ara captaincy of expectations means the club would likely seek a premium for a transfer, particularly if there is sustained interest from top clubs. Chelsea’s recent pattern of significant investment under their current ownership makes such a move plausible; the Blues have demonstrated a capacity to meet substantial asking prices should they decide to escalate their pursuit of Rowe. If Chelsea decide to push forward, their financial muscle could enable them to close a deal into the transfer window, potentially reshaping Bologna’s attacking options for the coming seasons.
As the market develops, all eyes will be on whether Bologna are prepared to part with Rowe and whether Chelsea will formalize a bid that aligns with the Italian club’s valuation. The potential acquisition would set up an intriguing dynamic in both leagues, giving Rowe a fresh challenge in the Premier League while offering Chelsea a versatile winger who has shown flashes of the quality needed to compete at the highest level.
