Benjamin Tahirovic to Celtic directly addressed

With his club bosses speaking out for the first time about the situation, the door has opened for Celtic to approach the Danish side and begin talks over a potential deal. The combative Swedish-born midfielder, who has also played for Roma and Ajax as well as Danish side Brondby, featured in all four World Cup games as Bosnia and Herzegovina progressed to the last 32 in the United States. He is now weighing up his future, with Celtic and several other clubs reportedly keen on the player, who is valued at around £4 million.
Brondby’s sporting director, Julius Ohnesorge, has signalled a willingness to sell the 23-year-old this summer, but he also made clear that Celtic have not yet made contact. Celtic have already added Colombian striker Camilo Duran for about £5.5 million and are keen to strengthen further with a holding midfielder high on manager Martin O’Neill’s list.
Tahirovic has also been linked with Borussia Dortmund, meaning Celtic would need to move quickly if they decide to pursue him. However, Ohnesorge insisted there has been no approach from Celtic or from Dortmund. In an interview with TV2, he explained: “He’s just finished the World Cup and isn’t here now, so we’ll assess the situation with him and his agent when he returns. He can spend the summer discussing his next step with his family, whether that means playing in a strong squad here or elsewhere.”
“Yes, we are open to selling, but only if we can secure the right solution. With Max Ejdum we have added security and stability in the number eight role, but there must be clear mutual interest from the player and from another club in a transfer, and the price must be advantageous for us.” He added that he hadn’t heard from Celtic or Dortmund and doesn’t usually monitor those developments, though he acknowledged that interest in their players is always welcome.
The press and fans are invited to share their views as the Celtic conversation continues. With the summer selling window in full swing, supporters are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates on possible moves and negotiations.
