Stefon Diggs makes bold claim about NFL’s No. 2 receivers

Stefon Diggs remains unsigned, yet he clearly rejects the idea that he belongs in the bottom half of any wide receiver depth chart. In a video posted to his YouTube channel, the free-agent receiver argued that no No. 2 wideout in the NFL could be better than him, contending that even if teams rank their top options first, his résumé and production compare favorably with the next tier. “In my opinion, I can compete with anybody,” Diggs said. “But take those top receivers as your 1s, right? You can’t name a No. 2 better than me.” ESPN highlighted that Diggs made these remarks while reflecting on his standing in today’s receiver market.
That stance carries weight in Baltimore because the Ravens already have Zay Flowers established as Lamar Jackson’s primary option. The uncertainty lies behind him. Rashod Bateman is currently the projected No. 2 target, but training camp will decide whether Baltimore has enough depth to support its top option. In addition to Bateman, young pass-catchers such as Devontez Walker, LaJohntay Wester, Ja’Kobi Lane, and Elijah Sarratt enter camp eager to demonstrate that the Ravens possess viable answers in the passing game.
Diggs, 32, became a free agent after being released by New England in March. ESPN noted that he led the Patriots with 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns during the 2025 regular season, then added 14 receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown during their postseason run to the Super Bowl. The NFL also concluded its personal conduct review last month, determining there was insufficient evidence of a policy violation, according to CBS Sports.
None of this alone guarantees Diggs will land with the Ravens. Baltimore has invested in younger receivers and faces major decisions about its receiving corps before contemplating another veteran addition. Nevertheless, Diggs’ assertion touches a fundamental issue for Baltimore: championship offenses require production from players beyond the No. 1 receiver to defeat attention paid to the top option.
For the Ravens, the onus now falls on Bateman and the up-and-coming receivers to deliver. Diggs’ claim may center on his own confidence, but it also casts a clear spotlight on Baltimore’s most pressing question at wide receiver heading into camp. This story first appeared on Ravens Wire under the title featuring Diggs’ bold take on the NFL’s No. 2 receivers as teams build their depth charts for the season ahead.
