These Vikings Could Become Totally Unexpected Cut Casualties

By admin — In News — July 12, 2026

Nearly every summer, the Minnesota Vikings reveal at least one roster cut that leaves fans thinking, “What? They cut that guy?” And there’s no reason to expect 2026 to be any different, especially with new general manager Nolan Teasley, who has no loyalty to any player on the current roster. So, to spark thoughts about potential shocking cuts, here’s the 2026 list in alphabetical order.
Pittsburgh tight end Gavin Bartholomew works through drills at Lucas Oil Stadium during the 2025 NFL Combine, showcasing his movement skills for evaluators from across the league. On February 28, 2025, Bartholomew completes another testing segment as teams study his athletic profile ahead of the spring draft process in Indianapolis that afternoon. Gavin Bartholomew | TE
The Vikings used a 6th-round pick on Bartholomew in a draft when they had very few picks after the expensive Dallas Turner trade in 2024. Every selection had to yield impact to offset the depth-chart drain caused by the missing rookies. The result? Bartholomew missed the entire 2025 season with a lower-back injury. He didn’t play a single snap on offense or special teams as a rookie. Fast forward to 2026, and Bartholomew has something to prove. He must demonstrate that he belongs on the depth chart, specifically that undrafted free agent Ben Yurosek didn’t steal his job. In theory, Minnesota could retain four tight ends on the 53-man roster, but if they keep the usual three, training camp becomes a battle between Bartholomew and Yurosek for TE3. And Bartholomew could lose.
Tai Felton | WR
Felton’s roster spot could hinge on training-camp dynamics. Drafted by the Vikings in the 3rd round just over a year ago, the wide receiver’s role in the offense largely faded once the regular season began, and his minimal involvement in passing plays was perplexing. Such an outcome cannot be repeated in his second year. With the addition of undrafted rookie Dillon Bell, Minnesota now has another young receiver to evaluate. If Bell shines during camp, the Vikings may no longer view Felton’s draft status as a guarantee for a roster spot. Our Brevan Bane noted last month that with the signing of WR Jauan Jennings to be WR3 behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, things look murkier for Tai Felton. Perhaps he remains in the long-term plans since Jennings is on a one-year deal. Still, it’s not a great look for those who had hoped Felton would be a major piece of the offense. Felton is a speedster with the potential to threaten defenses on deep routes when he’s on the field. He was that kind of threat in college. If the Vikings cut him, another team would likely give him a chance—the speed, after all, often finds a landing spot.
