Newcastle United, meanwhile, remain hopeful of securing the green light. An agreement with SC Freiburg appears to be in place; the decision now rests with the player, with a verdict expected very soon. Aston Villa is reportedly attempting a hijack of the imminent Newcastle deal, with renewed contact today. There is still no final commitment from Manzambi to Newcastle. In the wake of Amadou Onana’s injury, Villa has reportedly made an XXL offer to both the player and SC Freiburg. A decision is anticipated soon.
Even though Freiburg is not directly contending with Bayern Munich for top honors, they possess a talented squad capable of making noise near the top of the table. Losing Manzambi would be a blow to Freiburg’s plans for the 2026/27 season.
