His move to the Lakers marks a new chapter for a player who has long admired the franchise. Mamukelashvili is a fan of Kobe Bryant and even sports a Mamba Mentality tattoo, reflecting his appreciation for Lakers history. He has spoken about the respect he has for the organization, describing the Lakers as a high-level franchise with a storied tradition and explaining that he’s excited to be part of a “new page” in Lakers history.
“Just the name itself – all of the legends play for the Lakers,” he noted. “The organization is a very high-level organization. They’re starting a new page and it’s just unbelievable to be part of it.” He added that the opportunity feels almost surreal, likening it to a scene from a video game where you imagine yourself playing for the team. “I’m so excited, so happy. The coaching staff is amazing, and I can’t wait to put the jersey on, go out there, and play my heart out every night. You’ve got to have a chip on your shoulder when you play for the Lakers.”
