Florida baseball will welcome back infielder Ethan Surowiec for the upcoming season. The Gators’ cleanup hitter announced his decision to return on social media shortly after the MLB Draft concluded on Sunday, July 12. Surowiec, who re-signed with Florida Victorious last month, remained active in the MLB Draft Combine and was listed among the top 250 prospects.
During his first and only season with Florida, Surowiec started all 62 games, producing at multiple positions in the infield as he rotated between first and third base. He delivered a strong offensive season, hitting .317 with 14 doubles, 12 home runs and 63 RBIs. With the recent change to the five-for-five rule, Surowiec now holds three years of college eligibility remaining. The Gulfport, Mississippi native joined the Gators after transferring from Ole Miss this season.
Last summer, Surowiec gained national recognition when he was named the Northwoods League MVP, a campaign highlighted by 24 doubles and 52 RBIs. One of the standout performances of his college season came in the SEC Tournament, where he went 4-for-5 in Florida’s victory over Alabama. That memorable game featured a home run, two doubles and three RBIs, underscoring Surowiec’s contributions to the lineup.
