Rewritten: Haeran Ryu of South Korea sealed a two-under-par 71 to finish atop Evian-les-Bains, France, and then birdied the opening hole of a playoff against Brooke Henderson to claim the Evian Championship on Sunday, marking her second consecutive major title in three weeks. Ryu had already secured the Women’s PGA Championship at Hazeltine National Golf Club on June 29. The duo finished at 19-under for the week at Evian Resort Golf Club, with Henderson, the 2022 champion, carding three eagles in her final round as she pursued her third major title. They returned to the 18th hole, where Henderson, after pulling her drive, chose to lay up and settled for par. Ryu, who had shot a record 60 on Saturday—the lowest round ever recorded in a major—buried a three-foot birdie to force a double-major scenario, a first in women’s golf, joining Nelly Korda, who won both the Chevron Championship and the U.S. Women’s Open this season.
In Scotland, Tom Kim remained bogey-free in a tight finish and closed with a 6-under 64 to capture the Scottish Open by two strokes, earning his first PGA Tour title since fall 2023. He sealed the victory with a 203-yard approach to six feet on the par-4 16th, building a two-shot cushion, and finished with a four-foot par putt on the 18th. Min Woo Lee shot 67 to finish alone in second. Matt Fitzpatrick, who shared the 54-hole lead with Robert MacIntyre as fog delayed the third round’s completion Sunday morning, fired a 69 and tied for third with MacIntyre (69), Keita Nakajima (67) and Johnny Keefer (67). Keefer—a Korn Ferry Tour player of the year in 2025 who earned one of three British Open spots next week—joined Michael Thorbjornsen and Victor Perez in that trio.
In Ohio, Zach Johnson captured his first PGA Tour Champions major in the season’s final event at Firestone Country Club, closing with a 2-under 68 to win the Kaulig Companies Championship by six strokes. He had posted a 63 in the third round to build a four-shot lead, weathering two opening bogeys in the final round as no one seriously challenged. This victory marks Johnson’s third on the 50-and-older circuit in his rookie year, narrowing the gap on Stewart Cink in the Charles Schwab Cup standings and earning him a spot in The Players Championship next year. Johnson finished at 15-under 265. Boo Weekley ended alone in second at 9-under 271 after a closing 66, while Rory Sabbatini, Slovakia’s 2020 Olympic silver medalist, delivered a weekend of 66-66 to finish behind. Cink ended fourth with a 68 in the final round.
