Ferran Torres to PSG: Why Fans Should Trust Luis Enrique’s Judgment

By admin — In News — July 13, 2026

According to recent reports, PSG are eyeing a transfer for Barcelona forward Ferran Torres, and reaction from fans has largely been negative about the prospect of the move. Several outlets also suggest that Luis Enrique’s aim in pursuing Torres would be to replace Portugal international Goncalo Ramos, who recently joined AC Milan for a record fee in Serie A. On social media, the general sentiment is that chasing a player of Torres’ profile may not be the best use of resources, especially when there are other options linked with the Parisian club this summer, such as Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi, who has repeatedly been connected with PSG during the transfer window.
Yet there is a straightforward argument that PSG fans should not second-guess the decisions of either head coach Luis Enrique or sporting adviser Luis Campos. The logic is simple: under the leadership of these two figures, the club has already won two UEFA Champions League titles, the first two in its history. While there have been several signings that did not immediately deliver on expectations, the club’s profile and potential were clear on paper, and not every high-profile addition has paid off at once.
One notable example is Randal Kolo Muani, who remains under contract with PSG but is no longer considered a rotational option by Luis Enrique. There have also been players who arrived with a lower profile and at a more advanced stage of their careers, rather than as traditional young prospects, yet ended up contributing significantly whenever called upon. Marco Asensio stands out as a perfect illustration. He joined from Real Madrid at a moment when some PSG fans questioned the move, but he soon became a valuable utility player for Luis Enrique, able to operate as an attacking midfielder, a false nine, or a winger.
This pattern suggests that Luis Enrique favors versatile players who can perform in multiple positions, and Ferran Torres fits that description to a tee. Although his natural position is on the wing, Torres has also developed into a center forward during his time with both Spain and Barcelona, and this flexibility is likely the trait that most appeals to the Spanish coach. For that reason, PSG supporters should have confidence in Luis Enrique’s judgment, given that he has steered the club to its most significant successes in its history. If the arrangement does not pay off, the responsibility would then fall to sporting adviser Luis Campos.
Campos has consistently excelled in player sales. When a player fails to adapt, PSG typically finds a suitable exit strategy. Naturally, it is easier to move on from players such as Goncalo Ramos or Lee Kang-in, who are still young and possess qualities that fit different tactical systems, than it is to offload someone like Marco Asensio, who is later in his career, or Milan Skriniar, another veteran. Nevertheless, appropriate moves have been made in the past for both of those players, who are now contributing to the team in different capacities. In the end, the club’s strategic balance between acquiring versatile talent and managing the squad’s age profile remains a central feature of PSG’s approach to strengthening the squad.
