Newly-promoted La Liga side interested in signing breakthrough Real Madrid talent after stunning Spain displays

Real Madrid’s transfer activity this summer is gathering momentum, with academy midfielder Thiago Pitarch emerging as one of the club’s most closely watched young talents. According to AS, the Spain Under-19 international has drawn strong interest from several clubs after a standout summer, with newly promoted Malaga currently leading the race to sign him. The chatter follows a breakthrough campaign for Pitarch with Spain at the UEFA Under-19 European Championship, where he helped his nation lift the trophy and finished as the tournament’s top assister. Those performances have boosted his stock, though there remains no definitive verdict on Pitarch’s Real Madrid future.
A key factor fueling uncertainty is the arrival of Jose Mourinho, the Portuguese coach who is set to assess the midfielder during Real Madrid’s pre-season before making a final determination about his place in the first-team squad. Malaga’s interest has become particularly pronounced, positioning them as the strongest contenders should Madrid decide to let Pitarch leave this summer. Fresh off securing promotion back to La Liga, Malaga are in the market for a creative midfielder capable of operating in multiple roles, and Pitarch’s versatility as a Real Madrid academy graduate makes him an appealing option.
From a sporting perspective, the prospect of regular first-team football could be transformative for Pitarch’s development, offering him the chance to establish himself among La Liga’s rising midfield talents. A regular role at Malaga would provide him with consistent minutes in Spain’s top flight, a crucial factor for any young player aiming to accelerate their progression at this stage of their career.
However, one significant hurdle could complicate any potential move. Malaga will not compete in European football next season, a consideration given Pitarch’s ambitions after already gaining valuable experience with Real Madrid in elite competitions. At present, Pitarch’s Real Madrid future remains uncertain. He is expected to report for the club’s pre-season training, where Mourinho will closely observe his performances before reaching a decision. While there is genuine interest from Malaga, Pitarch has already communicated a clear personal preference if he ultimately leaves the Santiago Bernabéu.
In an earlier interview with AS, the young midfielder stated that continuing to compete at Europe’s highest level remains among his primary objectives. “I’d like to continue getting minutes in the Champions League next season,” he said. That sentiment could shape any future negotiations, with clubs competing in the UEFA Champions League likely to present greater appeal than others in the market. As the season approaches, Pitarch’s stance could influence which suitors gain traction and how negotiations unfold, with Real Madrid weighing the best path for his long-term development.
