Wisconsin native Tyler Herro, who was recently traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, didn’t shy away from a jab at his home-state Badgers in the process. During a Bucks versus Miami Heat summer league matchup, Jimmy Jackson pressed Herro for an explanation about why he decommitted from Wisconsin. It’s worth noting that Herro ultimately played for the Kentucky Wildcats during the 2018-19 season, a stint that culminated in him becoming the No. 13 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
“I mean, I can keep it simple as… if I didn’t decommit, I probably wouldn’t be on the Bucks right now,” Herro said. “So I had to make a business decision at the time to go to Kentucky, play for Coach Cal [John Calipari], and now you see where we’re at with it.” He added, “I’m excited to be home. Leave that in the past. I’m representing the city and state like no other, so let’s do it.”
This marks the first time in Herro’s career that he’s playing for an NBA team other than the Miami Heat. His name has been circulating beyond the trade talks with Giannis Antetokounmpo, in part due to a reported physical altercation with former teammate Bam Adebayo, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
