Pro Football Focus commemorated two decades of NFL data by assembling an All-Star team that spotlights the top players at every position from the PFF era. The selections draw from PFF’s All-Pro first and second teams, reflecting the league’s standout performers since PFF’s database began in 2006. Among those honored is former Nebraska Cornhusker and longtime NFL linebacker Lavonte David, who earned a place on the second team.
PFF’s database, which stretches back to the 2006 NFL season, offers a distinctive perspective for evaluating and comparing players. The All-Star selections were determined using normalized PFF grades, adjusted for the season, and restricted to a player’s five best seasons with a single franchise within the 2006-2025 window. At each position, the player with the highest score under this framework earned the spot on the All-PFF lineup.
David earned his spot on the second team alongside Patrick Willis, while Bobby Wagner and Luke Kuechly were named to the first team. The selection reflects David’s sustained excellence, with the linebacker recording a top-four grade in seven of the past eight seasons, per PFF’s metrics. His peak years spanned 2017 through 2022, with a standout 2013 season that featured the third-best grade among linebackers across the league.
In the 2013 season, David amassed 145 combined tackles and 107 solo tackles, including a career-high 21 tackles for loss, seven sacks, five interceptions, and one safety. Over the course of his NFL career, he has totaled 1,716 tackles. The longtime standout also logged 177 tackles for loss, 42.5 sacks, 33 forced fumbles, and 14 interceptions.
David’s collegiate impact at Nebraska was equally significant. Over two seasons with the Cornhuskers (2010-2011), he posted 285 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, two interceptions, 12 passes defended, three forced fumbles, and two fumbles recovered. His 285 career tackles rank fifth in Nebraska’s storied history. During his time in Lincoln, David earned First-Team All-American honors twice (2010 and 2011) and was named the Big Ten Linebacker of the Year in 2011.
