UAE side in advanced talks with Arsenal player

Ahmed Ragab reports that UAE Pro League outfit Al Jazira Club are in advanced talks with Arsenal midfielder Christian Norgaard regarding a potential summer transfer, following his limited opportunities under Mikel Arteta during the 2025/26 campaign. Norgaard joined Arsenal from Brentford in 2025 and quickly earned a Premier League winner’s medal in his first season with the Gunners, while also making his Champions League debut. However, the flip side of the story is that the 32-year-old logged only 1,040 minutes on the pitch, roughly the equivalent of fewer than 12 full matches. With a 63-game season in mind, that amount of playing time stands out as relatively sparse for a player of his stature.
A translated post states: “UAE’s Al Jazira is in advanced negotiations with Arsenal player Christian Norgaard.” Last month, Danish outlet Bold.dk, via journalist Mads Glenn Wehlast, suggested that Norgaard could find himself surplus to requirements for Arsenal in the 2025/26 season, potentially prompting a move if he seeks regular first-team minutes. Reports indicate that Norgaard signed a two-year contract with Arsenal, with an option for a third year. At present, that extra year is not anticipated to be activated, meaning his deal would expire next summer.
Despite Norgaard’s popularity within the Arsenal dressing room, the club appears open to offers. Bold.dk also claimed that a return to Brondby this summer is unlikely, as it would be premature for a reunion with his former club. Norgaard has frequently been cited among players Arsenal would consider letting go this summer, and The Times’ Gary Jacob noted in May that the Dane is expected to depart. The midfielder recently retired from international duty, which means he won’t be accruing minutes for Denmark next season through national team fixtures. If he isn’t featuring for his club, he won’t be playing at all.
