PSG express interest for Aston Villa’s Lucas Digne

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly weighing up a move for Aston Villa left-back Lucas Digne (32), according to Daily Mail Sport. It is claimed that talks about a potential transfer have already begun. Digne, who is under contract with Villa until 2028, is viewed as a viable alternative to bolster competition for Nuno Mendes (24) at PSG. Additionally, the deal is seen as a genuine bargain, given that the Frenchman is said to have a release clause of roughly €10 million.
If the transfer goes through, the Meaux-born defender would be returning to familiar surroundings, having made 44 appearances for PSG between 2013 and 2016. For the 32-year-old, it would be a homecoming of sorts, returning to the club where he previously graced the pitch before spending the last four seasons with Aston Villa. At Villa, Digne established himself as a key figure in Unai Emery’s squad and played a significant role in the club’s Europa League triumph last season.
During the 2025-26 campaign, Digne competed for minutes with Ian Maatsen (24). He still managed to feature across 44 matches in all competitions and contributed at least seven assists, underscoring his continued value and creative threat from the left side. The potential move to Paris would not only reunite Digne with the club where he began his European career but would also provide PSG with depth and experience at left-back, complementing Mendes and adding options for different tactical setups.
As PSG explore their defensive reinforcements, Digne’s experience in European competition and his familiarity with the club’s environment could make him an appealing choice for Mauricio Pochettino or his successor, should negotiations advance. Villa will, of course, assess their options and the market dynamics, including Digne’s remaining contract length and the reported €10 million release clause, as they consider the best path forward for the player and the club.
