Johnny Kenny of Celtic celebrates the opening goal in the Scottish Cup Fourth Round clash between Auchinleck Talbot and Celtic at Rugby Park on January 18, 2026. The 23-year-old had a productive loan spell with Bolton last season, bagging six goals and providing several assists in 14 appearances before a knee injury prematurely ended his campaign. Despite that setback, Bolton, who earned promotion to League One, are understood to be keen on a permanent move for him. However, journalist Alan Nixon reports that Millwall, Celtic’s Championship rivals, have now joined the chase, with the London club showing interest in the deal. Celtic could reportedly entertain offers around £850,000 for the Republic of Ireland attacker.
Recently, Celtic manager Martin O’Neill acknowledged that Kenny’s long-term future remains undecided as the striker continues his pre-season recovery. O’Neill said: “Johnny is here at the moment. He’ll be fit again in another three or four weeks. Like everything else, you’re waiting for things to happen. I think Johnny did very well at Bolton, and Bolton were very impressed with him, I must admit. We’ll see once new players come in how we stand. He also looks stronger now than when he left.”
