The St. Petersburg native finished second on the team in doubles (13) and RBI (48). He was the first of three Knights selected in the two-day draft.UCF coach Rich Wallace believed Williamson was almost a lock to be selected in the draft.“I don’t think there’s any way that all 30 teams could screw that up and not take him where he should be taken,” Wallace said back in June.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementRight-handed pitcher Braden Smith was selected in the 15th round with the 440th overall pick by the Baltimore Orioles, while outfielder John Smith III went in the 19th round with the 570th pick to the New York Mets on Sunday.Braden Smith went 3-1 with a 6.21 ERA over 33.1 innings, striking out 23 batters while walking nine. His season was cut short after sustaining a season-ending injury in April. Prior to his one season at UCF, he played at Division II Maryville University.John Smith III also spent one season with the Knights after previously playing at Pensacola State College and South Alabama. He was second on the team in batting average (.322) while finishing first in RBI (49).
