Other players who will be honored are Danny Ainge (BYU) and the late Walt Hazzard (UCLA).One of the greatest players and scorers in program history, Rice starred for the Wolverines from 1986-89 and led Michigan to its first national championship in 1989. During that national title run, Rice averaged 30.7 points in six NCAA Tournament games and set March Madness records with 184 points and 75 made field goals — marks that still stand.He led the Big Ten in scoring in each of his final two seasons, including 27.7 points as a senior when he earned the conference’s top individual honor. He finished his career with 2,442 points, the second-most in program history, and holds the program record with 949 career field goals.Following his stellar Michigan career, Rice was selected by the Miami Heat with the No. 4 overall pick in the 1989 NBA Draft. Over the course of his 15-year pro career, Rice was a three-time All-Star, made two All-NBA teams, won an NBA title with the L.A.
