   ​As it gets closer to the 2026 Arizona high school football season, The Arizona Republic ranks the top 10 stadiums.They don’t have to be the best teams. They feature an ambiance, a prestige, a history, a look that stands out among the 200-plus schools in the state.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe Round Valley Ensphere, also known as the Round Valley Dome is a high school football stadium in Eagar as seen on Aug. 20, 2020.Named after deceased former coach Tot Workman, this was the first football domed stadium built in America on a high school campus. It opened in 1991 at a cost of $11 million and has been used for several sports, including track and field. It’s got a majestic look 8,000 feet above sea level in the White Mountains. It’s worked out well because of the harsh cold weather that can come through in the fall and winter. It seats about 5,500 fans.It’s no longer Cesar Chavez on the stadium in Laveen (the school has been renamed), but Cactus Canyon has that old-school look that stands out. It was obviously modeled after Montgomery Stadium, which was demolished in 1987 and was once the home field for Phoenix Union, which closed in 1982.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementFlagstaff Coconino High School’s football stadium.Cromer Stadium is something out of the 1940s, tucked in the pines in Flagstaff. The school opened in 1967, but the grandstands were built in the 1940s. In 2018, Flagstaff and Coconino played their rivalry game at Cromer, marking the 50th anniversary of Coconino’s first state football championship. Usually, the big rivalry game is played at Northern Arizona’s Walkup Skydome.The school was established in 1912. There is so much history to this school but the football program has really ramped it up in the last decade. Last year’s team got to the Open state championship game with its new turf field, installed at nearly all of the Chandler Unified School District schools. This might be the only high school stadium in the state that has two press boxes, one on each side.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementIn the Lakeside-Pinetop community in the White Mountains is one of the most beautiful high school stadiums you’ll find. It’s lined with pine trees and the brick wall inside the stadium, every state championship year is etched out. All 14 of them. Even in the harsh cold weather, it’s as cozy a stadium as you’ll find. It was basically the house that deceased coach Paul Moro built. Blue Ridge won 13 state titles under Moro.Striking miners and others rounded up in 1917 are gathered at Warren Ballpark in Bisbee while armed members of a posse stand in the infield keeping watch.Six miles north of the Mexico border, the Pumas will play their football and baseball games at Warren Ballpark, which has concrete grandstands. The stadium was built in 1909. It’s one of the oldest and most legendary stadiums in the country.
