At Brown, he’s built consistently competitive teams through player development and a winning culture, and those values align perfectly with what we’re building here in Ann Arbor. We’re excited to welcome Mike, Kristin and their daughters to the Michigan family.”“I’m incredibly grateful to Coach Boynton for the opportunity to join the Michigan basketball family,” Martin said in the same press release. “Michigan has established itself as one of the premier programs in college basketball, and it’s easy to see why. The championship culture, the people and the commitment to excellence all make this a special place. I’m excited to get to work with our student-athletes and help build on everything this program has accomplished.”The 44-year-old Martin was hired as the head coach at Brown in 2012 when he was just 29 years old. He is the all-time winningest coach (171 games) in Brown program history and earned Coach of the Year in the Ivy League back in 2019. His best year was a 20-win season back in 2018-19, the program’s first ever 20-win season. He was also a player at Brown from 2000-04.Per Michigan’s press release, “Martin’s teams consistently developed some of the Ivy League’s top talent. Brown produced four consecutive All-Ivy League first team selections from 2022-25, highlighted by three-time first-team honoree Kino Lilly Jr. During Martin’s tenure, Bears players also earned five Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year awards, an Ivy League Rookie of the Year honor, multiple Academic All-America recognitions and numerous all-conference accolades.”AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe move represents another step in what has been a whirlwind of a month for the program. He has at least two more assistant spots to figure out, with the Wolverines losing Justin Joyner (Oregon State head coach) and Drew Williamson (Dallas Mavericks) this offseason. Mody Maor was also set to be hired in Ann Ar
