Giants’ Luis Arraez Comments on Trade Rumors

By admin — In News — July 13, 2026

The San Francisco Giants are stuck in quite the situation. With second baseman Luis Arraez in the All-Star game, and potentially on pace to win his first career Gold Glove, do they dare trade him as part of a fire sale to make room for the next generation of younger players?AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementArraez is only 29 years old, but he’s only on a one-year deal. That deal is a little lofty at $12 million, but there are plenty of other players on the Giants who are making far more and doing way less.As part of his media responsibilities, Arraez discussed all things baseball related, including the potential of him being traded in the middle of his best season yet.According to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Susan Slusser, Arraez has a pair of requests. It’s not like he has a no trade clause in his contract, but Arraez knows this is a big year for himself in terms of what’s next for his career. Changing teams could cost him an unbelievable amount of money for his next contract, and that’s not a risk he’s willing to take.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement”Luis Arraez says he doesn’t want to be traded but he says if it happens he only wants to go somewhere he would play second base,” Slusser wrote. These are two things to be completely reasonable about, but at the end of the day, Arraez doesn’t hold much power. Should the Giants want to trade him, they’ll be able to with relative ease. Of all the players they have on the chopping block, Arraez may be a rental, but he’s by far the most friendly contract the team has to offer.Finding a team who’s desperate for a second baseman isn’t impossible, but it’ll take some work. The Giants could consider his request, but again, this is a business, so Arraez could get stuck in the worst possible scenario and have to put a smile on his face and move forward. With all but four of his at-bats coming at second base this season, it’s not hard to understand why Arraez would want some stability. Had the Giants been in a better position, there likely isn’t a world where he’s ever on the trade block in the first place.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementShould San Francisco decide to move on from the left-handed hitter, he could be headed to his fifth team since making his major league debut in 2019.Don’t miss out on our ROUNDTABLE community and the latest news! It’s completely free to join.
