Rangers Release Jonah Bride

By admin — In News — July 14, 2026

The Texas Rangers made a minor move during the All-Star break as the team officially granted third baseman Jonah Bride his release, according to Dallas Morning News’ Shawn McFarland.Bride, 30, signed a one-year, $772,000 minor-league contract with the team in November 2025.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementDespite signing with the Rangers so soon after the 2025 season, he didn’t spend a second at the big-league level here in 2026.Eyeing playing time at the major-league level with his fourth organization, Bride knows that won’t be coming with the American League West’s first place team. All things considered, the Oklahoma native has been having a decent year at the Triple-A level. Remember though, he’s 30-years-old and this team simply didn’t have a spot for him. They were willing to eat the contract, one that won’t cost them much, and granted a player slashing .271/.389/.418 his release.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementBride sported a .807 OPS in Triple-A this season. For reference, his career OPS at the majors is .624. He’s coming off a 2025 season that saw him have 112 at-bats with two teams, averaging just .436 in the OPS department with a -0.7 WAR.Overall, Bride has been a negative WAR player in two of his four seasons. His career high was 0.8 in 2024, a year that saw him have career highs in every major statistical category. That’s not to say he peaked in 2024, but his numbers last year were a huge wake up call. Instead of building on what he did with the Miami Marlins, the team quickly moved on from him and he was given a chance with the Minnesota Twins. The Rangers liked enough of what they saw to offer him a minor-league contract, but that never came with a guarantee of him making it to the big leagues. With the trade deadline rapidly approaching, potential sellers could be interested in bringing Bride in, should they host a fire sale and lost a majority of their lineup.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThere’s a chance Bride plays elsewhere in 2026, especially knowing he has nine home runs and 46 RBIs at Triple-A this season. He’s drawn 57 walks to just 65 strikeouts, though it’s worth noting that’s come in a 292 at-bat sample size.Bride has 79 hits in 80 Triple-A games this season, and he has 16 doubles to go along with his homers. He’s also managed to steal eight bases, an impressive number for an aging infielder who’s stolen just one base in the MLB.Don’t miss out on our ROUNDTABLE community and the latest news! It’s completely free to join.
