HSV hopes of a Vušković return dashed as defender makes €53m switch to Brighton

   ​One of Hamburger SV’s breakout stars last season, Luka Vušković, will not be returning for a second stint at the club.Brighton & Hove Albion confirmed earlier this afternoon that the Croatian has signed for them from Tottenham Hotspur.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementVušković, who spent last campaign on loan at HSV who hoped to retain his services, joins the Seagulls for a hefty €53million price tag.There at the seaside club, the defender will link up with former FC St. Pauli coach Fabian Hürzeler who was happy with the transfer.“Luka has had a fantastic start to his career – we have been closely following his progress,” said Hürzeler after the deal was completed.“Last season he proved that he can play at a very high level, and we want to support him in building on that in our environment.”There was a lot of hype surrounding his move to us, but he is still a young player who needs time to adapt to the demands of Brighton and the Premier League”.
