The United States Men’s National Team entered the 2026 FIFA World Cup with high hopes, boasting arguably its most talented roster yet with a home-field advantage throughout the tournament. Unfortunately, that did not lead to a longer run through the tournament, and fans are not happy. The United States suffered a lopsided 4-1 loss to Belgium in the round of 16, leading Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy to believe that the team “embarrassed” the entire country on the international stage.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe United States entered the World Cup with what is almost certainly its most talented roster to date. However, the result was no better than the past two decades. The United States got off to a strong start to the tournament, beating Paraguay 4-1 and then topping Australia 2-0 to clinch the group. They then pulled out a 2-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina in the round of 32 to advance to the round of 16. However, that’s where the run ended. The USMNT faced its only real test of the tournament in the round of 16 against Belgium.
