MLB insider believes there’s ‘no chance’ the Red Sox sell at deadline as of now

By admin — In News — July 14, 2026

Two weeks ago, the Red Sox looked primed to be sellers at the deadline. After a nine-game win streak that got them back within a half-game of an American Wild Card spot, those plans could change.“I don’t think they’re selling as of right now, no chance,” MLB insider Ken Rosenthal said on “Foul Territory.” “They’ve got a chance and they’ve got a chief baseball officer who has been under scrutiny. He’s not going to want to concede.”AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementCraig Breslow’s job has been at the center of plenty of questions over the last few months. But with the Red Sox back within striking distance of the postseason, there’s reason to wonder whether his seat has gotten cooler over the last nine games.Aroldis Chapman and Sonny Gray looked like prime targets to trade. Now with a nine-game win streak, it’s unclear if the Red Sox will elect to hold onto the pitchers and continue the 2026 season with them.“No longer do Gray, Chapman and others look like goners as they did throughout much of the last three weeks,” MassLive’s Chris Cotillo wrote. “As well-performing veterans in their late thirties, they are clearly at the peak of their value. But trading them would send a deflating message to a clubhouse that, with new characters and a renewed sense of energy, has fought its way back into the thick of things.”The Red Sox are also still without key players like Roman Anthony, Garrett Crochet, Trevor Story and Marcelo Mayer and have been able to get back on track despite them being sidelined.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementBETTING: The Red Sox are listed at +145 on DraftKings to make the playoffs this year.
