Auburn’s Byrum Brown among top five most impactful SEC transfers

By admin — In News — July 14, 2026

For the Auburn Tigers to have a big season, they will need quarterback Byrum Brown to be a reason why. On Monday, On3’s Chris Low released his top ten most impactful SEC transfers, with Brown landing at No. 3 on the list.Coming ahead of Brown is former Auburn and current Texas wide receiver Cam Coleman at No. 1, with LSU quarterback at No. 2. It makes sense to have Brown high on the list with what he and head coach Alex Golesh accomplished at South Florida. Last season, Brown was the only player in college football to throw for over 3,000 yards and rush for 1,000. He also scored 42 total touchdowns while leading the Bulls to nine wins before he and Golesh arrived at Auburn.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementIt has been a while since the Tigers had an impact player at quarterback. Some may point to Jarrett Stidham and Bo Nix as those types of players, but both struggled with consistency while on the Plains. Brown has been compared to Cam Newton, but those are lofty expectations that most likely cannot be met. He is, however, a much better improvement over previous quarterbacks Peyton Thorne and Jackson Arnold. As a transfer, Brown was rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports.Auburn will find out early the kind of impact Brown will have on the team when the Tigers play the Baylor Bears in Atlanta to start the 2026 season.Contact/Follow us @TheAuburnWire on  X (Twitter), and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Auburn news, notes, and opinions.
