Michigan football continues to change behind the scenes, and there are fewer and fewer faces that remain a part of the program from the Jim Harbaugh and Sherrone Moore eras. And the Wolverines are facing a massive departure that has been a big part of the team for nearly the last decade. While former strength and conditioning coordinator Ben Herbert got all of the publicity as someone who had turned the team around behind the scenes, equally crucial was team nutritionist Abigail O’Connor, who joined the program the year before Herbert had. Having come to Ann Arbor in 2017, O’Connor oversaw all of the team’s nutrition and meals, helping shape the bodies of the players at the base level.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementOn Tuesday, O’Connor posted to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that she is departing the program, as she says goodbye to the team.O’Connor was a Jim Harbaugh hire, but remained with the program despite the coaching changeovers from Harbaugh to Sherrone Moore and Moore to Kyle Whittingham. She was the performance dietician during the three Big Ten championships and 2023 national championship. At this juncture, there is no indication who will be replacing O’Connor or why she is leaving the team. This article originally appeared on Wolverines Wire: Michigan football loses key staffer Abigail O’Connor
